Platform Theatre, 2021

'ISISTRA, PHIL & MUMSY' is a radical re-telling of the stories of three women from Greek mythology - Lysistrata, Philomena and Gaea - through performative costuming and design. Experimental theatre that utilises liveness and the presence of body and object in space to tell stories.

DIRECTOR/ DESIGNER - Mallika Joy

SOUND DESIGN - Wiktoria Grzybowska

PERFORMERS - Inigo Townsend, Evie Binns, Renee Kiangala, Charles Jimenez

This piece was a live performance, documented in film. It uses actions that have a specific engaging liveness, to tie emotional to physical reals through the tactility of their presence - including destruction, eating, drinking, sewing, construction. Live performance is a precious and fleeting experience, unique every time and totally reliant on human unpredictability. In a time when we are absolutely addicted to screens, the visceral experience of the live draws us towards the vividness of life as sentient beings through a united presence. I have spent this year researching how I can prick at this presence through storytelling.
